ISI's(TM) latest and one of our more innovative projects has been developing carrageenan formulations for use in food packaging. Carrageenan is a hydrocolloid widely used as a food additive extracted from certain species of red seaweeds.

Xanthan Gum - Purified by Recovery with Ethanol has been self-affirmed as a GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) food ingredient in accordance with 21 CFR 170.30. The GRAS determination is based on scientific procedures, as is supported by a 4-volume GRAS report. 

Xanthan Gum is a natural biopolymer produced by a special fermentation process from the bacterium Xanthamonas compestris. Xanthan gum is used to keep ingredients suspended uniformly and provide thickening to enhance a formulation's mouth feel.
