In a mere few weeks, people will once again be drilling for uranium near Jeffrey City, as the nearby Sheep Mountain mine is gradually awaken from a 20-year slumber. 

The Wyoming Mining Association represents 34 mining companies who operate 50 mines producing a variety of minerals essential to our nations economy.

The North American surface drill rig count for June totaled 65 rigs, up seven from last month's count. And, while the development rig count remained static, production rigs increased by two to 19. Exploration rigs increased from zero to four, and Canadian exploration drill rigs totaled three. 

The North American uranium surface drill rig count for June totaled 54, down from May's total of 56; all surface drills involved ISL projects, except for Homestake's reclamation rigs in New Mexico.
